Course Overview
The Basic Life Support (BLS) course is a comprehensive 7-hour training program developed in accordance with the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa (RCSA) guidelines. It is designed for healthcare professionals who provide care in both in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. This includes doctors, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, allied health professionals, and healthcare students.
The course serves as a foundational requirement for advanced resuscitation courses such as ACLS, PALS, ANLS, AMLS, and the BLS Instructor Course. It is also a prerequisite for specific postgraduate examinations offered by the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (e.g., DipPEC (SA)).
Participants will receive in-depth, hands-on training in high-quality CPR, choking management for all age groups, and the use of barrier devices and automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Emphasis is placed on developing the proficiency needed to respond confidently and competently in emergency scenarios.
